That is, if you’re into that sort of thing!
Pete Rose was! Major League Baseball’s all-time hit king died on Monday at the age of 83. Nicknamed “Charlie Hustle” for his relentless drive when on the diamond, Rose was league MVP in 1973, a 17-time All-Star, three-time batting title winner, Rookie of the Year, and World Series MVP in his career.
Rose also has the most games played (3,562), hits (4,256), at-bats (14,053), and singles (3,215) recorded. He owned a career .303/.375/.409 slash line (batting average, on base percentage, slugging percentage) with 746 doubles, 1,314 RBI (runs batted in) and 160 home runs.
Rose has a complicated legacy, as his stats scream Hall of Fame, but due to gambling while he was a manager, he was placed on baseball’s permanently ineligible list.
Anyway, Rose’s legacy, other than not getting into the Hall of Fame, is his hustle. He went all out to a fault, even when it didn’t matter (preseason games, games out of reach, etc.).
There is something to be said about hustle. Especially when it comes to business networking, leveraging your social community, and implementing systems.
Are you looking to generate more revenue? Scale your business? Become a better leader? Maybe it’s losing or gaining a few pounds?
Unless it comes naturally to you, you have the right systems in place, or you’re satisfied with current status, most growth requires true grit and hustle around doing the right things at the right time and being intentional.
Not easy!
True hustle often involves a headfirst dive and maybe getting your uniform a bit dirty.
Here are some ways to hustle and bustle your way to success!
Create a Vision
Where do you want to be in one to three years? Write it down, review your vision weekly as a reminder, share it with those that matter to you. Be open to suggestions.
Set a Monthly Goal
How many accounts do you want to gain? How many pounds do you want to lose?
Key Projects
What key projects will help you get there? Joining an accountability group? Creating or updating a website? Getting that book written?
Daily Action Steps
Do you have a daily plan to keep you focused on what needs to get done, who needs to be contacted, and when?
Model Week
If you could create what you want your ideal work week to look, would you? If you’re a business owner, here’s a little secret – you can!
Own Your Calendar
Block your calendar so you can control what you will do, who you will be meeting with, and when.
Business Networking
Who do you need to meet and reconnect with relevant to your goals and projects? Where do you need to go? What do you need to say?
Review, Track, Measure Progress
What gets measured gets done. How can you quantify your results and adjust?
Be All In
“Do or do not. There is no try.” Yes, a Yoda quote from Star Wars. Whatever your initiatives are, hustle and be all in. Most of us that have had the greatness success with their business, fitness, relationships, or whatever don’t go at half speed.
It all comes down to making the decision to change, committing to the right systems, and planning. Then, schedule and work the plan.
